| Is It Raining Sour Mangoes! |
If you did not read Citizen Nades' scathing report on the number of language errors (more than 50) in an ad for for the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Consumer Affairs and Co-operatives in the New Straits Times last week (March 8, Page 3) then read it here... When I bumped into Nades last Friday, he was still fuming about the state of affairs on the use of English in advertisements. After much deliberation and calm contemplation he suggested we should have regular "Sour Mango" Awards for ads that are just plain horrible - language or otherwise. Now that can translate into many definitions, but I believe Nades meant the ones that stick out like a sore thumb and created by people who do should not be in the business of creating ads. So let's take them to the cleaners, shall we? ADOIMAGAZINE.COM is now OPEN for submissions from readers of this site to freely email us images of ads seen (state the paper, station, appearance date/time and page) that just made you feel really sick and offended. Shoot a small paragraph of your pain and we'll salvo the rest of the brickbats from here! Hey, you can start with today's paper. And you can remain anonymous, so long as the ad actually appeared. You can also offer your suggestions on how to improve the ads too. Someone's got to learn, right? One condition: they have be ads that appeared in Malaysia. Any takers? We'll send the best (worst) ad submission a box of sweet mangoes from Pakistan. Trackback(0)
