Google Set To Leave China! |
As Google's position on China's unwavering censoring policy remains unresolved, it means the search engine giant is leaving the world’s largest and fastest growing Internet market. Last month, Reuters reported that Google is a member of a consortium led by Disney, to buy a large stake in Bus Online, a large Chinese advertising company. This obviously is not going to be the case anymore.
The Financial Times says Google has drawn up detailed plans for closing its Chinese search engine, citing a person familiar with the company who says that while a decision could be made very soon, Google was likely to take some time to follow through with its plans.
Google shocked business and political circles in January when it threatened to pull out of China if it could not offer an unfiltered Chinese search engine. The threat came after cyber attacks originating from China on it and about 30 other firms. And talks with China over censorship last week reached an apparent deadlock situation for both parties.
