Yahoo Celebrates Treasure Hunt Winners With Bonus Bounty! PDF Print E-mail

Yahoo! Malaysia’s (www.yahoo.com.my) online and offline treasure hunt – YOUREKA! – ended on Wednesday, 26 Nov with electrifying performances and one triumphant winner of the seven-week contest which has attracted thousands of Yahoo! users and gave away premium prizes every week.

Held at KL Live along Jalan Sultan Ismail, the Yahoo! YOUREKA! Grand Finale attracted several hundreds of people, who gathered to watch online champions of the campaign vie for the finale prize through a series of whacky elimination rounds. A carnival atmosphere created by live bands Inspirational Joni and Urbandub, DJs Inquisitive, Lapsap and roving performers including street magicians and balloon sculptors, who entertained the crowd and swept the contestants towards a final Yahoo! YOUREKA! moment.

Grand prize winner, Tiffany Ooi, a consultant, walked away with the Yahoo! customized one-of-a-kind iPod Touch and Macbook Air, said: “Yahoo!’s online version of the treasure hunt was one of a kind, I’d never done anything like it before. I discovered a lot about how Yahoo! can keep me up to date on what’s going on in the world around me.  The rewards were awesome, but being the overall winner was definitely a Eureka moment. If I could do the Yahoo! yodel, they would be able to hear me in Penang.”

Runners-up were also rewarded. Five runners-up each received coveted Blackberry Curves 8520 smartphones and 10 third runners-up took home two pairs of exclusive miadidas shoes.  For fans and supporters, creative contests and activities, such as making self-portraits, and a graffiti styled express yourself wall, kept revellers entertained and gave them a chance to score some premium treasures of their own.

Yahoo! Malaysia’s (www.yahoo.com.my) YOUREKA! contest gave the old idea of a treasure hunt a new digital twist incorporating challenging online clue searches and fun offline pursuits of rewards. Each week participants – anyone with a Yahoo! account – searched for different coloured tickets online at Yahoo.com.my and were rewarded with a treasure chest of top of the range goodies from adidas premiums to movie tickets.
