ntv7 in partnership with Branding Association of Malaysia (BAM) recently gave an insight into branding via the right media to 50 small medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) who are seeking for the the best business solutions for their growing brands. The workshop entitled “Be Branded, Be Seen” provided the platform for two reknowned speakers to share their experience and knowledge on the journey to branding their way to success, as well as for participants to highlight their concerns on marketing to their target segments.
Speaking at the opening of the half-day event, General Manager for ntv7, Airin Zainul expressed her pleasure at having the opportunity to help Malaysian SMEs capitalise the advantages of tv advertising. “Studies have revealed that tv reaches out to 95% of the population and the reach continues to grow. Together with BAM, we aim to provide the best business solutions to SMEs in reaching out to their target market. Tv coupled with other advertising mediums provide better, effective results for brand awareness, therefore we encourage companies to make their investments more cost effective. Being the number one tv station dominating the Chinese market with 22 percent audience share, and the second most watched channel among Urban 30+ with 8.1 percent audience share, ntv7 is also a media brand for SMEs and high end urban labels to attract Chinese and urban consumers. Not only do we reach to a huge market segment, we also provide creative media space for aspiring brands.”
Also gracing the event was President of BAM, Dato’ Lewre Lew who drove the message on the importance of branding in a holistic manner, citing the media as an important platform. “As the country heads towards being a high-income nation through the new economic structure, SMEs should also contribute by developing and taking their brand to another level, making it big in the global market.” Workshop participants had the pleasure of listening to the success story of Malaysia’s homegrown brand, Pensonic, who has been in the business for the past 27 years. Its Group Executive Director, Vincent Chew spoke on the importance of branding and branding via the right media. Saying there is no right or wrong in choosing which media, new players need to first establish the mix of elements that differentiate their brands – by putting in place their brand vision, personality and values.
Kym Wong, Chief Operating Officer of Pulse Group PLC delivered an astounding research on measuring the success of a brand. Essentially, Kym remarked that “You can do branding even with a shoestring budget.” At the end of the workshop, ntv7 presented “101 on TV Advertising” – giving SMEs an overview of how to grow their businesses and gain competitive advantage via tv advertising. ntv7 also offered an attractive branding campaign package to help companies craft out their best marketing strategy to give their great brands a boost in the market. Airin quipped, “One thing great that we learned during the previous economic downturn more than 11 years ago was that, the financially challenging period actually opened opportunities for SMEs to take their businesses to another level, by getting on to tv advertising. As bigger companies tighten their A & P budget, SMEs were taking advantage of the unique creative marketing solutions made available by our affordable packages.”
The 50 SMEs who took part in the event was members of BAM, whose businesses range from supplier of fire fighting equipment, accounting firms as well as manufacturer of Malaysia’s own cola beverage.
