The Limkokwing Fashion graduates were beaming with pride. Their garments showcase drew massive attention. Hundreds of attendants, including students and passersby mobile camerasswarmed the fashion stageat Bangsar Shopping Centre as LKW undergraduates flaunted their garments down the catwalk in true grace, charm and panache. The fashion show was a post-convocation event for Limkokwing University. Themed Creativity in Motion, it was a project from the University to promote the Limkokwing fashion academy as well as the Graduating fashion class of 2009. The fashion show starred 33 designers from seven countries across Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, Sudan, Brunei, Bangladesh and USA with more than 100 designs from each participating student!
The fashion show was unusual, as the models were not only walking and posing but danced along to modern music on the catwalk. The vibrancy of the dance was part of the theme to keep the sense of motion. “This is not just a fashion show,” noted a beaming Tan Sri Lim on the day of the extravaganza. ”Normal fashion shows are meant to sell clothes. But this is, about making a statement of character, attitude and about expressing oneself well. Plus showcasing creativity at its vibrant best.”.

Creativity in Motion is a collection of fashion ideas from the world’s next generation, influenced by elements of Asian culture including the Manipuri dance of India, the Irezumi Tattoo technique from Japan, and the tribal paintings of Sarawak and more.
After the event, three awards were accorded by Tiffanee Marie Lim to the designers who had shown admirable efforts, innovative designs, and craftsmanship. The recipients were Merlin Yuwita from Indonesia, Tan Cho Sian from Brunei and Andy Yap Hock King from Malaysia. Andy Yap had also won the Styllo Young Designers’ Award 2009!  “This fashion show is a dream of a lifetime and I am honoured to be granted this award,” said an excited Andy whose garments have been inspired by the Chinese historical epic, The Lost Empress. “It vindicates my philosophy through the garments, as my designs were inspired by the abstract expressions of Chinese costumes the Empress wore!”
