Media Prima Bhd expects its newly launched intelligent online video portal, TonTon, to break even in the next 12 to 18 months.

According to group managing director Datuk Amrin Awaluddin, TonTon will revolutionise the digital broadcasting landscape, offering world-class content from Hollywood movies to hit Asian drama series.

"With TonTon, we are able to expand on our revenue based from our core revenue contribution from TV, print and radio," he said at a media briefing after the launch of TonTon today.

MySinchew: Young Asians inseparable from their mobiles: Survey

The latest Young Asians survey by global market research firm Synovate shows the lives of Asia's youth revolve around their mobile phones, as personal ownership of mobiles has increased from 60% in 2008 to 64% in 2010.

According to China's Xinhua news agency, it also showed that Hong Kong jumped from 82% to 87% of youth owning a mobile, while Singapore went from 80% to 85%.

This 5th Synovate Young Asians study provides an in-depth look at the lifestyles, habits, product ownership and media consumption of youth across Asia.

Respondents ranged from eight to 24 years old across 11 markets in Asia, covering China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

LONDON: Employees who fritter time away on Facebook, Twitter and other social media websites are costing British businesses billions, new research suggests.

British employment website MyJobGroup.co.uk said it polled 1,000 British workers and found that nearly 65%, or two million, of Britain’s 34 million-strong workforce spent over an hour per day on social media while at work, amounting to more than one eighth of their entire working day.
