TheStar: GAB says its popular beverages help bolster sales performance

BEFORE going to work each morning, Guinness Anchor Bhd's (GAB) managing director Charles Ireland picks up a cup of coffee from his favourite coffee house to get his day going.

The brewery boss says he goes to only one particular coffee house, and the reason for this, he claims, is simple: “I go there because I know I'll get a good cup of coffee in the morning.”

“Likewise, when our consumers go for our brands, they know they're getting a good product,” he tells StarBizWeek.

For a company that has been experiencing 11 years of consecutive growth, Ireland's statement definitely speaks volumes.

For its second quarter ended Dec 31, 2011 GAB's net profit increased marginally to RM65.8mil from RM64.6mil a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter grew 11% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM468.3mil on the back of strong sales generated during large-scale commercial events and an earlier Chinese New Year festive period.
