ADVERTISING in newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations make promises that are unattainable, and offers things we never knew we needed.
These ads often target women by implying that consumers will never be beautiful unless they are thin and fair-skinned.
This extends to other media, such as the Internet, which has the greatest reach of all mass media.
A recent case concerns fashion label H&M, which used computer-generated models on its website. This came to light after someone had noticed something amiss with the models' poses. Read full article >>
