A total of 68 entries have been received by the Malaysian Effie Awards committee to vie for the inaugural awards presentation that will take place mid October 2008.
“This is a phenomenal showing for Malaysia. It demonstrates the commitment and competitiveness of fellow marketers to vie for the year’s most effective marketing communication campaigns in Malaysia,” says Mary Lee Keane, President of Effie Awards, USA. These entries will be judged on 21 August 2008 by 40 of the communication industry’s top marketing and advertising, management, creative, media and research and academic professionals. The awards are jointly organized by the Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA), and Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) and Media Specialists Association (MSA). "The keeness to publicly prove the effectiveness of one's campaign is a telling sign of astute business acumen,” says Dr. Sattar Khan, one of Asia-Pacific's top brand strategists and Chief Judge of the Malaysian Effie Awards 2008. “Clients and potential clients want proof of effectiveness - mere claims of effectiveness will no longer suffice. The large number of entries for Malaysia shows that Malaysian communications professionals 'get' the difference between claimed effectiveness and proven effectiveness. This is a wonderful testimony to the ever-increasing professionalism of the Malaysian marketing community." V. Kanesan, Organizing Chairman, is also extremely thrilled with the 68 entries received. “It reflects the close cooperation and planning by clients, agencies, media buyers and media owners in creating value for growth of brands in Malaysia.” Turning 40 this year, globally, the Effie Awards is still the most prestigious award that credits good ideas that work. It is being awarded in Malaysia for the first time this year. From the entry submissions in Malaysia, it reaffirms the fact that the Effie is the most recognized award by agencies and advertisers in the communications industry.
