At the recent Malaysia Effie Awards 2009, McCann Worldgroup Malaysia scooped two silver and a bronze for work developed for Coca Cola, PROTON and KFC. In total, only 12 awards including two gold, six silver and four bronze were presented at the same awards show. The two silver accolades went to “You’ll be amazed” campaign, developed to launch PROTON Exora, the first Malaysian-made MPV by national automaker PROTON; and "Freedom Song: Bebaskan-lah" campaign developed for Coca Cola while KFC’s “Good Things Come Together with KFC” campaign garnered a bronze award.
Additionally, the “School Fuel” campaign developed for Cereal Partners Worldwide was also shortlisted at the second Malaysia Effie Awards.
Introduced in 1968, the Effie Awards is the only global award that honours achievement in meeting and exceeding marketing communications objectives, it focuses on effective campaigns, campaigns that work in the marketplace. Today, it is recognised by agencies and advertisers all around the world as the pre-eminent award in the communications industry.
The Malaysia Effie Awards’ wins dovetail McCann Worldgroup Malaysia’s awards haul at 2009 Promotion Marketing Awards of Asia – The PMAA Dragons of Asia where the agency won the Best-in-Malaysia Dragon for its “Cornetto Love Sparks” campaign developed for Wall’s Ice Cream. The same campaign also picked up a Gold award in the Best Integrated Communications Campaign
category. Another Gold was also awarded to the agency for the “Proton MPV Naming Contest” which is part of the bigger campaign to launch PROTON Exora in Malaysia.
