Malaysia's largest Youth Festival, Youth'10 Festival was launched by YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Higher Education II, Joel Neoh, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Youth Asia, Datin Norjuma Habib Mohamed, Advisor of YOUTH'10 and Mr Chee Pok Jin, Chief Marketing Officer of Celcom Axiata Berhad.

The festival which will be held on the 28th to 30th May, at the Putra World Trade Center promises to bring over 100 fun-filled activities. This year the festival will involve youths from all over Malaysia. Youth'10 this year will be promoted across 55 campuses nationwide and at over 228 schools in the Klang Valley.

YOUTH‘10 promises to be an exciting platform for young Malaysians to engage, connect, learn and develop whilst having fun. Youths are the stakeholders for the future of the country.

“We find ourselves at a crucial point for the future of our youths today. The growing population of youths in Malaysia is proof of the significant power and impact that youths can make in this country. The Ministry of Higher Education fully supports YOUTH‘10 and we believe that it will be the platform for our youths to dream and make their aspirations a reality.”, commented YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah

“I am a strong believer of youth empowerment. I always believe that youth have 3 basic demands; they want their voices to be heard, their roles to be recognised, and their issues to be dealt with in the way that suits them. This is the mantra that I consistently embrace to engage with youth,” he continued.

“YOUTH‘10 believes in the power of youths in Malaysia. With over 35% of the nation’s population being made up of young Malaysians aged between 15 and 35 years old, today’s youths are undoubtedly in the position to make an impact in their communities and make a dynamic change of positivity within our nation. YOUTH‘10 is a perfect platform to guide youths towards that goal.”, added Joel Neoh, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Youth Asia.

“An effort by youths, for youths, YOUTH‘10 is the nucleus for a greater youth movement in Malaysia. Running in its third year, the festival has evolved drastically to meet the ever progressive needs and ambitions of the 9 million youths in Malaysia,” said Neoh.

“While youths today are very talented, much of these talents are untapped due to lack of opportunities. Also, their lives are very fast-paced and ever evolving in this digital age, which gets them bored very easily. This is why we are organizing YOUTH'10; to provide them a platform filled with various activities and information, and engage them with other youths of similar interests. This is a very positive and healthy platform to channel all the charged-up youthful energy and help curb social ills.”, according to Datin Norjuma Habib Mohammed, Advisor of YOUTH'10.

“As the main sponsors for YOUTH’10, we view this partnership as a great opportunity to further strengthen our brand affinity amongst the youth through the Xpax brand. Specifically for YOUTH’10, Xpax will be giving free unlimited three-day package tickets exclusively to our customers. We will also be presenting exciting Youth’10 activities such as the Xpax Battle of the Bands 3, as well as the Xpax 5 vs 5 Futsal Championship and Foosball Tournament.”, said Mr. Chee Pok Jin, Chief Marketing Officer of Celcom Axiata Berhad.

“With Xpax, our young customers are able to experience for themselves what it means to be truly connected with a prepaid brand that gives them the most exciting events and the coolest offerings, while delivering the best in value. Xpax youths are able to enjoy the 15pax feature which offers a 12sen flat rate for voice calls to all networks, and we are also giving 30minute free calls per month to customers who join Xpax before 31 March 2010. These free calls are given for the first 3 months within the Celcom network, when customers reload and spend RM30 monthly,” he continued.

The 3-day festival at the PWTC promises to be one of the main highlights in KL for the coming school break, and all youths who particate can be expected to have a thrilling and exciting time.
