IACT College, successfully held its inaugural The Adprentice Presso Night last Friday at PJ Live Arts Centre, where five brightest young Malaysian superstars and award-winning advertising agency, Lucideas made their final creative pitch to IACT College.
18-year old Wesley Murang Jon walked away with RM20,000 in cash and a full scholarship to IACT College, beating the rest of the Top 5 participants: Mohd Faiz Nazim Bin Baidilleh, Christabelle Enero Naidu, Ho Kai Yen, Charlie Cheong Wai Yan, and even Kelvin Long, Creative Director of Lucideas Creative.
Believing in the power of creative Malaysian minds, IACT College selected these five young minds to work on an advertising campaign that could potentially be implemented by IACT College in 2013, after a gruelling two-week elimination process.
The Top 20 Adprentice participants were invited to attend a series of Project-Based Learning (PBL) lessons on advertising, marketing and communication. Participants had the chance to work on real-life marketing campaigns, and pitch their million-dollar ideas to the brands a.k.a. clients.
Currently a Diploma in Advertising student at IACT College, Wesley shared, “It was indeed a good opportunity for us to gain insights into the advertising field. I like the idea very much as it provides hands-on experience through Project-Based Learning.”
“It is not all about winning and retaining my ego, but also about enjoying the journey. Now, I’m able to think from a broader perspective; and make decision wisely, as we often don’t know whether we are right or wrong. Learn from mistakes, I guess that’s how we improve ourselves,” he added with a chuckle.
The Adprentice is supported by Tune Talk, Sony Malaysia, Rexona Malaysia, Kraft Foods Malaysia, Doof Industries, TIME dotCom, Nestlé Malaysia, Wendy’s Malaysia, Original Bootcamp, EPIC, and Alt Space. Supporting media partner in this programme is MYC! Magazine. The Adprentice was filmed and will be released online via IACT College’s web and social media platforms beginning from 17 April 2012.
