Mr Gavin Simpson, Chief Creative Officer of Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia accepting the D&AD Yellow Pencil Award

Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia was awarded the ever-elusive D&AD Yellow Pencil at the Results Night on 19 April 2012 at the BFI IMAX Center, Waterloo, London.

To add to the celebration, Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia picked up a Nomination for the Pictionary Quick Draw Wins campaign. The same campaign also made in into the D&AD Annual.

Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia was also awarded a Yellow Pencil for Lego Campaign in the Graphic Design Category, a ‘Nomination’ for the Pictionary Campaign in the Press Category and got into the book in the Poster Advertising Campaigns and Illustration for Advertising categories.

Yellow Pencils are recognised the world over as a symbol of true creative achievement. “Winning a Yellow Pencil is harder that eating ice cream with a chop-stick. We are extremely happy and proud of this achievement. I would like to thank our clients for believing in the work and supporting us,” says Gavin Simpson, Chief Creative Officer of Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia.

This year everyone didn’t have to wait long for the results. D&AD announced the Yellow Pencil results at the conclusion of Judging Week on 19 April. Nominees, Judges and Press were invited to join us for an exclusive Awards Results Night at London's BFI IMAX where the Yellow Pencils were presented.

This event was streamed live on the night. For the first time ever, the Jury Foreman presented the awards and was interviewed on the talking points of the week.

“Winning these awards clearly marks a significant return of our creative renaissance. Winning here only encourages us to set higher standards and push us to come up with better ideas which are vital for both the client and for the agency,” he added.

Crediting a talented team and clients who demand nothing but the best, Gavin said, “Without a great team of talented individuals and a client who has believed in us from day one, this would not have been possible.”
